You cannot use credit cards or withdraw money from ATMs; you must bring all your travel funds in physical cash.International credit and debit cards do not work at shops, restaurants, or hotels. 10. What currency should I bring and is it safe to carry? Bring crisp, uncreased, post-2013 US Dollar (USD) bills to exchange for local Afghanis (AFN). It is highly safe to carry large cash amounts, but use standard travel safety wallets.
11. Can I buy a local SIM card and how is the 4G/Wi-Fi? Yes, you can easily buy a local SIM card (such as Roshan or Afghan Wireless) directly at Kabul Airport. 4G coverage is excellent in major cities but drops in remote mountain valleys; hotel Wi-Fi is available in cities but can be slow.
